The Landing Vehicle Tracked (LVT) was a class of amphibious warfare vehicle, a small amphibious landing craft, introduced by the United States Navy, Marine Corps and Army during World War II. Originally intended solely as cargo carriers for ship to shore operations, they rapidly evolved into assault troop and fire support vehicles as well. The types were all widely known as amphtrack, amtrak, amtrac etc., a portmanteau of amphibious tractor.

The Invasion of Poland had shown that the sIG 33s assigned to the infantry gun companies of the motorized infantry regiments had difficulties keeping up with the tanks during combat. The easiest solution was to use a spare tank chassis to carry it into battle. It was first mounted on a Panzer I chassis and given a lightly armored superstructure. This produced an adequate vehicle, but the center of gravity was very high, and the chassis was overloaded. As a result only a few dozen were built. Since the over-loaded Panzer I chassis was too small for the gun, production switched to models using the chassis of larger, more suitable tanks. In 1942 the PzKpfw II chassis was modified to accept the sIG 33. This version also received better armour protection. Eventually production switched to a modified version of the PzKpfw III and later still to the Panzer 38(t).

Vou dar início a uma série de posts relativos á diferença ou comparação entre as escalas 1/160, 1/150 e 1/144 (de acordo com o referido pelas marcas), ou dos tamanhos 10mm e 12mm.

Não pretendo fazer qualquer comparação entre a qualidade dos modelos dos vários fabricantes, de modo a evitar alguns mal entendidos.

I will start a series of posts related to the difference or comparison between scales 1/160, 1/150 and 1/144 (according to the brands info), or 10mm and 12mm sizes.
I do not intend to make any comparison between the quality of the models from various manufacturers, so as to avoid any misunderstandings.

The 10.5 cm leFH 18 was the standard divisional field howitzer used by the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. It was designed and developed by Rheinmetall in 1929-30 and entered service with the Wehrmacht in 1935. Generally it did not equip independent artillery battalions until after the Battle of Stalingrad in 1943. Before 1938 the leFH 18 was exported to Hungary and Spain. 53 were also exported to Finland, where they were known as 105 H 33. 166 leFH were exported to Bulgaria in 1943 and 1944 (until February 1st, 1944)^.

Após um período de convalescença que me colocou de "molho" durante uns dias, regressei ás "pinturas" de alguns modelos da Wargames-South que recebi antes do Natal (obrigado Jeff).

Aqui está o resultado.

March Attack from Crusader Publishing

A Crusader Publishing ofereceu-me hoje a versão em PDF deste livro de regras (obrigado Mark), o que significa que vou ter leitura para mais uns tempos.

Esta oferta que muito me agradou, alimenta cada vez mais a minha avidez de leitura de livros de regras.

Como é evidente ainda não tive tempo de analisar com a devida atenção este conjunto de regras, mas à primeira vista gostei bastante da parte gráfica do texto, dos diagramas auxiliares e das imagens que o livro contém.

Nas pesquisas efectuadas na web sobre o March Attack, só encontrei observações e comentários bastante positivos.

Isto pode significar o meu regresso aos jogos deste período da história,  o limpar das armas e a poeira das minhas figuras napoleónicas em 20mm.

The Crusader Publishing offered me today the PDF version of this rule book (thanks Mark), which means I'll have something more to read.
This offer that much pleased me, feed even more my eagerness for rules books .
Of course I have not had time to make an detailed view of this rules set, but at first glance I really liked the graphical part of text, diagrams and auxiliary images that the book contains.
I've searched on the web about March Attack, and only found very positive remarks and comments.
This maybe means my return to the games of this period of history, and the dust cleaning from my 20mm napoleonic figures.
